Who We Are

Keeping Nature Connected is a regional initiative helping protect and restore ecological connectivity across the Thompson–Okanagan and beyond.

Indigenous Nations, local governments, landowners, conservation partners, and community members are working together to keep wildlife and fish moving through the land and waterways they depend on.

The Keeping Nature Connected initiative is coordinated by Okanagan Collaborative Conservation Program (OCCP) and Thompson-Nicola Conservation Collaborative (TNCC).

What We Do

Keeping Nature Connected supports practical, collaborative solutions that protect wildlife movement and restore connected landscapes across the Thompson–Okanagan and beyond.

We work across public land, private land, ranchlands, and communities to:

  • identify and map key wildlife corridors
  • improve fish passage and restore rivers and wetlands
  • support safer wildlife crossings and reduce collisions
  • work with landowners and working landscapes to keep pathways open
  • share tools, funding opportunities, and stewardship stories
  • support Indigenous-led stewardship initiatives

Our approach is science-informed, guided by Indigenous knowledge, place-based, and grounded in partnership—focused on long-term resilience for land, water, and wildlife.
